Life Resource Planning is a formalized planning process that helps aging seniors and their families identify the need for additional in-depth planning from aging resource experts. It is not an all-inclusive planning approach, but identifies problems or issues that require the more in-depth planning. For a small fee the person or persons desiring to do this planning fill out a 123 question online form which includes information about family members, disability issues, income, assets, debt, insurance coverage, current or future intentions on living arrangements and possible caregiving needs. A formal report is produced which the planner uses to go over with the aging senior and his or her family member. This meeting will identify the need for more directed planning such as:
- Financial planning
- Estate planning or estate planning revisions
- Insurance restructuring
- Tax planning
- Medicaid or Medi-Cal planning
- End-of-Life planning
- Debt restructure
- Insurance coverages restructure
- A family caregiver plan
- Setting up home caregiving arrangements
- Formalized care management support
- Family dispute resolution
- Assistance with selling, moving and downsizing
- Sources of government funding to include veterans benefits
- Sources of government aging support
- and much more
The Retirement Planning approach follows the same methodology as Life Resource Planning but focuses on issues related to younger seniors who are contemplating retiring or who are just recently retired. Again, the outcome is not in-depth planning but uncovering issues that require more directed planning from expert advisors.
